This website finally helped me understand the claim of 100% failure rate

up to about 5 minutes ago... i still had the notion that maybe jw's predicted something and got it right... that the league of nations was going to rise and become the united nations.

i think that jw prophecies/predictions are like a shotgun: shoots many projectiles, one of them has got to hit.

you cannot predict 5 different things and then, when one of them gets partly fulfilled, drop the other 4.5 things, change the 1/2 thing you predicted that was right and make it seem like that was the only thing you predicted, and make the entire one point fit after the fact.. reading watchtower literature throughout the years (1879 till now), and then coming here and getting awesome explanations from people like leolaia and other researchers, i finally understand the claim that most apostate websites make: the wt has a 100% prediction failure rate.. they were lucky that something big happened in 1914... but now i am much wiser and i know that everything they predicted for 1914 did not turn out as they predicted... 1914 has been a date with many different hats... from the start of armageddon, to the beginning of the last days... etc.... thank you very much jwn for completely opening my mind.

I believe at first 1914 was predicted to be the very end of Armageddon.. The very end of human rule on the earth, to be replaced by heavenly rule. This was held for some years after walrus sell died in 1916. Rutherford claimed that "the kingdom is now already 9 years old." (Paraphrasing)

This does not matter to Dubs, nor does doctrine. The GB could come it and say, "we made it all up! None of this is true, god is fake. Haha!" And there would still be an impressive number that stay, maybe even start a splinter group.

You Are right though, it is no exaggeration to say that the WT and all involved have a 100% success rate... Of failure

so, i am talking to a long time friend, you know, the non-judgmental type that doesn't really mind that i don't go to many meetings and am never out in service.

he tells me that the annual meeting is coming up and that the whole congregation is invited...well, at least the active "approved" whole congregation.

he speaks with an excitement that puzzles me, like he just got invited to the locker room of his favorite football team when they won the superbowl.

Am I in a "cool hall " or what?

anybody else in the situation i am?

me and the wife go to a hall that is pretty "hands off".

i have not really been out in service for probably 1.5 years and my wife has went out maybe 3 times in the last year.

Yeah I hear you there buddy. I haven't been in service for a good year and a half, and attend probably 15% of the meetings. Wife gets to probably 40% and goes in service once a month. She's a 'social witness' and I'm doing my best to hide my hatred for religion. The good friends we do have are super coolinto go on vacations together, and think nothing of skipping meetings and going away for the weekend instead.

The weird part? The elders are completely leaving us alone! We had a shep call like 10 months ago to 'encourage' me, that's it. Do you get the 'its nice to see you here' handshakes when you do go to the hall?

so there is a rumor going around about 1914 and its possible demise!.

i cant help but think of the many and i say many divorces (not to make light of the matter) that jw families have had to deal with among their ranks over the years.. however, knowing how long the wtbts and 1914 have been together and the thought of mother (wtbts) doing away with her man (1914) after nearly 100 years of marriage is truly heart breaking for some.

many old-timers probably still think of the old days when they were like any other happy couple; inseparable, always holding hands, romantic and the like.

Besides... The oxygen/carbon ratios have changed many times through history. Just because our air is food for us now doesn't mean if air was a bit different, we couldn't have evolved to breathe that air perfectly. How things fit together is not evidence of any creator, just of our evolution working properly. Evolution didn't need someone to help it start, because by its very nature it makes things work out or die.

In summary, your question is pointless. Good try, keep thinking and searching. The truth is right under your nose

Well said, jgnat. The title and OP of this thread, as well as every post by the OP have been dripping with arrogance.. The worst kind of arrogance. I'm glad the OP didn't retreat into the realm of "warm fuzzy feelings" or "Christ this and that." He outright challenged a very established and proven scientific system saying we need to "get current" and read this silly book written by a fool. It is full of the same garbage pseudo science creationist books have always had. Not a single rational argument among them. So far, I don't see the scientific community in an uproar, rewriting textbooks and throwing away decades worth of research all because of under qualified preacher wrote a book.

The OP then goes on to ignore all of the well written rebuttals to his nonsense, and cut and paste more of this garbage. You see, this thread would have been a big eye opener for me when I was waking up. Even if it didn't make me disbelieve the bible, it would have made me dig deeper to find the truth. It is for this reason that anyone posts on this thread still at all.

Regardless of whether its from donations or the $800+ million proceeds from sales of Brooklyn property, it is still a win. If Candace were to donate a portion to SNAP, it would be a very valuable investment. Let's not forget that she deserves every nickel she gets. Hopefully she can invest it wisely and she and her family can benefit from it for decades or more.

Hey QC, once Adam's wrong free will choice is corrected, what happens the next time someone willingly (not out of ignorance like Adam's sin was.. He was set up to fail according to Genesis) sins? Let's look into the future shall we? I am a perfect, blameless man freed from sin by Jesus. (I'll assume that we'll still have men making up rules for us to follow) I decide to sin privately... Later that night my wife and I fool around (as we often do) and she gets preggers.

Regardless of whether I am forgiven or not, is sin passed on to my child? Am I to be destroyed, devastating my wife and child? I know this is OT, but I'm curious how the hard headed believer like yourself works these things out... Considering you have no issues making up all sorts of excuses for your god.
